Pray for addiction

Addiction

You do not have to clean yourself up to come. You come, and He cleans. One hour at a time. One verse at a time. One hand on the rope.

Take it to the Lifeline

Three verses to hold

  • If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

    John 8:36

  • My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.

    2 Corinthians 12:9

  • No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful. He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.

    1 Corinthians 10:13

A prayer to start with

Jesus, I cannot. You can. Take this from me, one hour at a time. Surround me with people who will help me hold the line.

A short walk this week

  1. Call one person before you act on the urge. Every time.
  2. Read 1 Corinthians 10:13 out loud each morning.
  3. Go to one meeting, one church, or one counselor this week.
  4. Write down the trigger. Then write Romans 8:1 next to it.

Words to look up in the Bible

  • freedom
  • weakness
  • deliver
  • stronghold
  • redeem

Questions people ask

  • Can a Christian really be free from addiction?

Yes. Freedom is real, and it is rarely instant. God uses Scripture, His Spirit, His people, and often counselors and doctors. Keep coming.

  • What is a prayer to say when the urge hits?

Jesus, I cannot. You can. Help me right now. Then call a real person before you act.

  • Why do I keep failing after I asked God to take it?

Failing is not the end of the story. Grace meets you in the relapse. Get up, confess, and keep walking. He is not done with you.

The lifeline is the answer

The Lifeline is two hands on a rope. The hand from heaven, and your hand reaching back. Watch the teaching, then bring this hard thing to it.
