Pray for grief

Grief

Grief drags the line low. Grace stays low with you. You do not have to be strong here. You just have to keep holding on.

Take it to the Lifeline

Three verses to hold

  • The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

    Psalm 34:18

  • Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

    Matthew 5:4

  • He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.

    Revelation 21:4

A prayer to start with

Lord, I am broken. Sit with me here. Carry what I cannot. Hold the people I love. When I cannot pray, hear my tears as prayer.

A short walk this week

  1. Read Psalm 23 out loud, slow, one time a day.
  2. Write down one memory of the person you lost. Thank God for that memory.
  3. Tell one trusted person you are not okay this week.
  4. Take ten minutes outside, no phone, just breathe and listen.

Words to look up in the Bible

Questions people ask

  • What does the Bible say to people who are grieving?

It says God is close to the brokenhearted, He sees every tear, and He promises that one day there will be no more death or mourning. Grief is real, and so is His comfort.

  • Is it okay to be angry at God when someone dies?

Yes. The Psalms are full of honest, raw prayer. God can hold your anger. He is not afraid of it. Bring it to Him.

  • How do I pray when I cannot find words?

Borrow the Psalms. Pray one verse out loud. The Spirit prays for you when you cannot pray for yourself.

The lifeline is the answer

The Lifeline is two hands on a rope. The hand from heaven, and your hand reaching back. Watch the teaching, then bring this hard thing to it.
